LVDT Signal Conditioning

Carrier Amplifier conditioning for Inductive Displacement Sensors
Applications include hydraulics, machine tools, material testing, semiconductor equipment, aerospcae, miltary vehicles

A Linear Variable Displacement Transducer (LVDT) measures the position and displacement using the relative position of two inductors. These devices each have a fixed point and a moving part that is attached to the test point, both points carry one or more inductors.

WHAT IS LVDT SIGNAL CONDITIONING?

WHAT FYLDE PRODUCTS ARE AVAILABLE?

  • For LVDT devices with built in electronics and therefore only requiring a steady DC voltage to energise them, a suitable solution is usually the FE-366-TA from the Micro Analog 2 range.
  • Some LVDT devices do not have built in electronics and have to be energised by a varying AC voltage which couples from the fixed inductor to the moving inductor. Special Carrier Amplifier modules are used to carry out this signal. A Fylde Carrier Amplifier FE-346-CA for this purpose is available in the Micro Analog 2 range.
